Meet Anne Charnock
Senator Anne Charnock is a lifelong West Virginian, attorney, and public servant who proudly
represents the people of the 17th District in the West Virginia State Senate. A native of
Charleston, Anne was born and raised in the Kanawha Valley and comes from a family with a
long tradition of service to the community. She was appointed to the State Senate in 2025 to
represent District 17, which includes much of Kanawha County.
Anne is a proud graduate of Kanawha County Public Schools, having attended George
Washington High School before earning both her Bachelor of Arts and her Juris Doctor from
West Virginia University. After completing law school, she returned home to Charleston to
practice law at her family’s firm, continuing a legacy rooted in service to the people of the
Kanawha Valley.
Before joining the State Senate, Anne served the community for more than twelve years as a
Judge of the Municipal Court of Charleston. In that role, she worked every day to ensure
fairness, accountability, and respect for the rule of law while addressing issues that directly affect
local families and neighborhoods. She also previously served as Chief Deputy Kanawha County
Clerk, gaining valuable experience in the operations of local government and public
administration.
In the State Senate, Anne is focused on strengthening West Virginia’s economy, supporting job
creation and economic development, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly. She
believes strongly in improving education so the next generation of West Virginians is prepared
for success, while also defending the conservative values that define the Mountain State.
Anne remains deeply committed to the Kanawha Valley and the people who call it home. Guided
by her experience in the courtroom, her background in law, and her lifelong ties to the
community, she works every day to bring practical, common-sense leadership to the West
Virginia Legislature.
